After leaving the family farm, Steve graduated in 1988 from Fort Hays State University in Kansas with a degree in Agri-business. While employed in the grain business, and after living in Indiana for 7 years, Steve took his passion for hunting and his discouragement in accessibility to private hunting property to a business level and in 1999 he formed Base Camp Leasing.

In 2002, realizing the increasing need of other serious hunters looking for quality places to hunt, Steve took Base Camp Leasing full time. He says it is very satisfying to find a father a safe place to carry on the hunting tradition with his kids. His favorite hunting includes whitetail and coyote but never passes up an opportunity to escape to the woods. Steve resides in Fishers, IN with his wife and 2 sons.
