This hunting lease is leased and not available.
This is a neat piece in a county known for great deer. In fact the previous hunters raved about the quality of deer on this property...just look at the pics! The buffer strips and CRP adjacent to crop ground create some really great habitat for all species of game. Add a creek to the mixture, and it becomes even better.
Approximately three miles of chest high native grass buffer strips surround the west field and parts of the east fields. Almost forty acres of CRP is found in the SW and north parts of the property. This means that there is excellent deer bedding virtually all over this property. And don't forget about the upland bird opportunities- the owner mentioned he sees pheasants occasionally. The previous hunters say the property is covered with quail as well...coveys of 40+!
Some of the hillsides will be planted to wheat or rye in the fall to help prevent erosion.
No cattle will be on the property.
No driving on the property in wet conditions. Please communicate with the owner if it is questionable.
Deer unit 9.
The areas outlined in BLUE are CRP or Buffer Strips.
The area outlined in GREEN is going to be converted to crop ground in the next year or two. He will also be mowing down some of the trees growing in the buffer strips, but there will still be plenty of thick, tall grass.
