This hunting lease is leased and not available.
80-acre Sauk County deer and turkey hunting lease. Southwestern Sauk County is becoming more and more a destination for hunters seeking mature whitetails. I encourage you Base Camp members to call me prior to going to inspect the property or making a deposit. Just a few things that I will try to explain below but might be easier to do so on the phone.
First of those is the 40 acres outlined in yellow on the aerial. Landowner told me that he has this reserved for him and his family for the rifle deer season, but during the archery season and excluding some weekends, he is okay with you archery hunting on this. It is outlined on the aerial to show you where it is located, but want to be clear that this is not formally included in the 80 acre lease. He told me that he has a few relatives that occasionally do archery hunt that back 40 but sounded like that is not on regular basis.
Landowner also told me that his family owes nearly 1200 total acres directly attached to or nearby this 80 acres. All those acres are also supposedly pretty heavily into QDM.
A good portion of the property that is not planted in crops is pastured. The cattle rotate between the property across the road landowner has and this property including the back 40 outlined in yellow on the aerial. Landowner told me cattle are off for sure before rifle deer season, but no specific dates as it all depends on the amount of rain, we get each fall and how much grass there is for the cattle to feed on.
This is a deer and turkey hunting lease only. Respectful use of ATV for hunting related activities is okay. Camping allowed with permission from landowner. Food plots - landowner is receptive to discuss but upon my inspection, just not sure if there is much ground that is not already pastured or planted in crops. Landowner would like to meet initially and have some contact prior to your visits to property. He would also like the make and license of your vehicles. These requests are all simply to primarily watch over the lease for you and make sure that is he sees someone on the property that is you or your group.
