This hunting lease is leased and not available.
Here is a really diverse 178 acre wooded property in unit 2D almost surrounded on 3 sides by 4800 acres of State Gamelands #31. This place has a ton of potential. I was bouncing deer from the moment I stepped on the property. The property has a fantastic trail system with a bridge which allows you easy access to just about anywhere on the property and you can quickly get back almost a mile into the gamelands. This property should be a sanctuary once gun season starts especially with all the thickets, waterholes and bedding it has. The property consist of rolling hills, small brushy fields and open hardwoods with quite a few open patches for small ambush type food plots. It has a number of small ponds and a stream that runs through it. The woods have alot of Oak, Cherry, Beech, Pine, and Ash and I did find some fresh acorns, especially around the old Railroad bed. There are some deep wooded ravines with a few waterholes and a lot of good deer runs. Do not overlook the pond on the east of the property. It is surrounded by high grasses and cattails and seems to have quite a bit of deer activity all around it. There's also a marsh just to the north that had a lot of sign. Also, do not overlook the brushy hillside in the W, or the fern covered ravines in the NW, they had a lot of good sign and deer runs.
According to the landowner the turkeys are plentiful, and he has seen a few bear over the years, so don't forget that bear tag.
This is the first time the land is being leased, and though it is lightly posted, it is recommended to post it more, especially along the gameland boundaries.
Camping is allowed and Lodging is only 15-20 mins away in Brookville or Punxsutawney.
The landowner does select cut the woods from time to time in the winter months (Jan-Mar) and sometimes in the summer if it is dry enough. He does leave his equipment on the property, a skidder and an enclosed trailer. Respectful ATV use for hunting purposes only.
