This hunting lease is leased and not available.
What a phenomenal farm being offered for lease in Edgar County, IL. I had not been on the farm for more than five minutes and was already jumping deer. I had time enough to get my camera out and catch the last deer going across the bottom, which is in the photos. Upon speaking with the landowner, who lives on the property, he stated there are deer in his fields every night. There are areas on the farm that are thick with bush honeysuckle, which is providing excellent cover for the deer to feel comfortable travelling through this farm. On the west side of the property is a powerline that is overgrown, and I found where the deer had been bedding. There were numerous deer trails leading from the timber into the row crops. The row crops are very secluded, and most of this farm is unviewable from both roads on the east and north side. With having these two roads this will provide you different ways to access the farm in order to play the wind. The aerial photo does a decent job depicting the topography and showing how the property rises from the road on the east side of the property. The row crops that are between the fingers that jut out are very secluded and one would think, the deer should visit these sections in those last twenty to thirty minutes of daylight. When you inspect the property, you will see red markings on some of the trees. This farm does have a timber contract and will be harvested sometime in the next 2 to 3 years. It will be a select cut. When I was walking around the property, there were not that many trees marked. If I had to guess, I would say 30 to 40 at the most. The landowner said he would collaborate with the company who has the contract to possibly avoid the harvest taking place during the deer season. A select cut is going to make this farm even better. I have cut out the landowner's driveway and home out of the aerial. But, if you want to enter from the north, you can park at the northwest corner of the property, where the garage and the old home are located. Edgar County has been producing some very nice mature bucks over the past several years and this farm is no exception.
