This hunting lease is located in WMU (8J) and near Phelps, NY. The lease has about 33 acres of woods/thicket and thick tree- lined fence rows separating fields. I saw several turkey on my inspection and a bunch of deer sign (trails and tracks). If you look at the TOPO you will see most of the drainage ends up in the woods and thicket on this property. Landowner stated in June the water will dry up. I found some oak, beech and hickory trees on my inspection. Looks like last year (2022) corn, alfalfa and hay were the main crops. Front field also has a lot of clover. This would be a very easy property to hunt. The area holds a nice deer herd and some nice bucks. Found several tree stands on the property-if not taken down you can use at own risk. You can post the property if you want. Posted a picture of a buck shot close to this property. You should be able to fill some deer and turkey tags on this hunting lease! ATV use is allowed when dries out. Stay on established farm trails. No Camping. Do not rut up farm fields.
