155 acre Archery Deer hunting lease in Polk County. Property is an active ski resort and adventure park for many years. Several years ago a local 4 x 4 club got permission to create miles of off road type trails throughout a good portion of the property with some portions more challenging. We used a normal ATV on our tour as all of the challenge areas have a by-pass route. All of the trails are wide enough to accommodate up to Jeep-size vehicles.
Before I get into the various activities on the property, wanted to make sure I express that I was told by landowner limited hunting has been allowed on the property in the past and if so, only on selective portions of the property due to the ski hill. I saw both deer and turkeys randomly during my inspection, most of which simply stood and watched us drive by. It certainly appeared that the deer have become comfortable with human activity on the property since limited hunting was allowed. There are 3 access points, one on the west side, one on the southern side and a primary one on the eastern side. .
Due to activities on the ski hill portion of the property, none of which is included in this 155 acre lease, this is an archery deer hunting and fall turkey hunting lease only. Activities by the 4x 4 club also require no firearms being use for hunting. There are trails used by the 4 x 4 club that are contained within the lease, but ski hill is outside of the described 155 acre lease.
As mentioned previously, due to 4x4 club work being done starting in March, no spring turkey hunting is allowed. The fall turkey hunt however, is allowed with archery equipment.
You will have access to the property to put up cameras, stands and scout at any time during the year including when events are being held, but if an event is being held, the 4 x 4 club has priority to use of trails and access points.
Activities on the property. There are off roading events typically take place Memorial Weekend ( May ), one weekend in June and July, and one Labor Day weekend in early Sept. There could be some motocross type events during June, July and August. The roads used for these events are present on the lease. Typically starting in March, the 4 x4 club is working to get the trails ready for the events that start in May, thus the reason why no spring turkey hunting rights are included in lease.
Archery only lease. Hunting rights with archery include all fall deer hunting rights along with fall turkey hunting. Camping is allowed with permission from landowner for hunting related activities. Some potential areas for food plots with permission. Respectful use of ATV for hunting related activities okay. Your primary contact will be a friend of the landowner and who is the property manager for the property. Your group will each be given a personal ID card and another ID card to put on the dash of your vehicles when on the property. Aluminum "Leased Land – No Hunting or Trespassing" signs will also be provided.
