110-acre archery and muzzle loader deer hunting lease in Grant County. Landowner owns over 1000 acres in the Fennimore - Montfort area and leases 11459, 11460 and 11462. The bucks pictured in the listing are those of the landowner and taken on his properties. Appears bucks in this area genetically have a lot of mass.
This 110-acre property has lots of mature CRP along with creek bottoms and hardwood ridges. Pasturing does happen on the property, but cattle are rotationally grazed between properties 11459 and 11460, so depends where they are at as to when on this property. Cattle tend to be off all 3 of these properties in October. Majority of the timbered ground is not pastured but I did see some that was at time of inspection, primarily on the northwestern side of the timber. The timbered ground had plenty of browse and cover and appeared to have limited or no pasturing. Nice trail system that allows good access to both sides and ends of the timbered ground.
This is an archery and muzzle loader deer hunting lease only. Spring turkey hunting might be allowed with permission from landowner, but he tends to work with the DNR to provide youth turkey hunting options for hunters. I understand we are already into the 2023 archery season, but at the time of this listing, the best weeks are still a month or so away and I want to stress that securing this lease in 2023 is as much about possibly having the option to renew again in 2024 as it is hunting it this fall. I have several other leases in this part of Grant County and hunters are taking some real giants in this area of the state.
Landowner wants to secure all rifle deer hunting rights including any doe only seasons should DNR established after the traditional 9-day rifle hunting season. Landowner would not hunt the youth rifle season in October. As mentioned before, he has over 1000 total acres and may not even hunt this property with rifle but wants to retain those rights. They are very busy farmers and typically get only a few days.
Early archery deer hunting rights end the Sunday prior to opening day of rifle hunting season.
Camping is allowed for hunting-related purposes with permission from the landowner. Respectful use of ATV for hunting related purposes is also ok. No real area for food plots but might be able to do a few smaller plots in the CRP depending on landowners contract with USDA. Check with him on if this is allowed or not. The landowner would like to meet with you initially once you secure the lease.
