I had my doubts about this property, but after walking it and talking with the landowner I believe this will be a good all- around hunting lease WITH POSSIBLE LODGING ON SITE. He has a nice buck hanging on the wall that he harvested a few years ago and mentioned regularly having deer and turkey walking through his yard. "THE OWNER DOES NOT HUNT ANYMORE".
To my pleasure, I found that there is an exceptional amount of cover on the property. As you pull in the driveway you notice the front woodlot and the pond. This area is super gnarly and perfect for the deer and turkey to hide in. The pond and tail waters have quite a few beaver dams that have the water backed up a ways into the trees. If you are after some ducks, this could be a nice little spot for you!
The back pasture has not had any livestock on it in a few years and the native grass is now back to being thick, knee high, and is also being overtaken by cedar trees. There is a small creek bed along the southwest corner to provide even more diversity and cover.
The northwest field is planted to crops.
THE OWNER ALSO HAS ROOMS FOR RENT IN HIS LOG CABIN HOME. He seems like a super nice guy, and the house seemed really clean and comfortable. These arrangements will be made directly with him.
