This hunting lease is leased and not available. Base Camp Leasing has a 153-acre hunting lease available for immediate lease in Blair County, PA. This lease is part of WMU 4D and is only minutes from Altoona and Duncansville. This lease stretches over approximately 1.5 miles road frontage. It is abutted to State Game Lands (198) to the West and Water Authority property to the East, which is currently part of the PA Game Commission's Public Access Project. A large parking area and Railway service road provide access to part of the property, with additional parking along the main roadway. This property has very steep sections with terraced benches at various heights. The property is mostly transitional hardwoods with good second growth mast trees and abundant undergrowth browse. Several perennial springs cut down the property making several small wetland areas along the road that feed Sugar Run Creek. There are plentiful game trails crossing the length of the property leading to bedding areas on the various benches along the ridge. A section of the property is part of a powerline right of way and is terraced by the Norfolk Southern mainline. On my recent inspection I noted plenty of Whitetail deer sign and saw several doe groups moving through the area. Furbearers, such as, fox, coyote, and racoon are abundant on the property. The occasional Black Bear is known to den in the numerous rock outcroppings at the top of the ridge. I have been on this property many times in the past and this area is very sought after locally. ATV for hunting purposes only. No camping.
