Wow - words can't describe how beautiful this property is. 65-acre Rusk County deer and turkey hunting lease that I could have spent all day looking at. The Big Weirgor Creek runs through the property from the north to the south and then runs into the Chippewa River which makes up the southern boundary of this property.
The landowner told me before I went to the property that he keeps several miles of roads mowed throughout the property. I thought to myself that is a lot of roads on just 65 acres. Turns out it might be even more than that. Timbered ground is pretty thick and thus all these roads are what I would target for potential stand locations as well as quiet and easy access to and from those several times as we drove these trails, as we came around a corner there were deer standing in the road just watching us as we drove by them.
The landowner has owned the property for 20+ years but just recently moved back to Wisconsin. He does not live on the property but does live about 1/4 mile from it. He told me that he has allowed only minimal hunting over all those years - I only saw one old ladder stand on the property so no reason to not believe what he told me. I suspect that there should be potential for some mature bucks as well due to the limited hunting.
The landowner understands that once we get into the heart of the deer hunting season, that mowing and keeping the trails open is not needed and will give the hunters space to pursue what appears to be a lot of deer on the property. I also have no reason to not believe there can potentially be some really nice bucks that call this place home as well. If you want to bring your fishing gear along when your at the property, feel free to do so.
In the pictures you will see a sign "Camp Chippewa" which is on the northeastern corner of the property as a landmark for your visit to the property. At one time, landowner had considered turning a portion of this beautiful property into some type of camping rentals. That has not happened and there are no real future plans to do so. Just wanted whoever leases this property that it is not a camping location for tourist.
This is a deer and turkey hunting lease. Camping and food plots allowed with permission from the landowner. Use of ATV for hunting related activities is also allowed. The landowner would like to be contacted prior to your visits to the property. Lease ends July 1st each year.
