100 acre deer and turkey hunting lease in Monroe County. Ridges and couple valleys make this property much bigger in regards to hunting than what aerial may appear. Seemed like I was taking pictures every turn as there was just so much to see. Tornado went through a portion of the property a few years ago according to the landowner. They did try and salvage some of the downed trees, but as you can see from the pictures the new growth in these areas is quite impressive along with mother natures version of hinge cutting to create bedding and browse.
Found two small creeks during my walk of the property and according to landowner they never run dry so besides the great bedding areas, also water present on property.
On the aerial there is approximately 4.5 acres outlined in blue. This area the landowner wants reserved for himself to rifle deer hunt. He farms so has limited time to hunt, but wants to option to should he get time. You are allowed to archery hunt and muzzle loader hunt this area. He told me the best hunting areas on the property are east of this area, but it was the easier for me to try and split off from the rest and minimize any impact on whoever leases the property so he agreed to this being the area reserved for him during the 9 day rifle deer season.
I really enjoyed my time with the landowner and he was adamant of doing what he could to make sure whoever leases the property enjoys the time they spend on it. This was important to him and thus why he requested I share that with you our Base Camp Members. The woods is technically fenced so that it qualifies as pasture ground. Landowner told me the few cattle and horses he has rarely go into the woods as there is plenty of pasture on northern side of property in open areas. I found little to no evidence of any animals having been in the timbered ground this summer/fall and just in case, the landowner said he would completely close off the timber in mid September .
Deer and turkey hunting lease only. Blue area on aerial is reserved for landowner to rifle deer hunt. Leasers can archery and muzzle loader hunt this area. Did not really see any area for a food plot but landowner seemed open to ideas you may have other than non timber areas that are already in crops or being pastured. Use of ATV for hunting related activities is okay. No camping allowed at this time.
