This hunting lease is leased and not available.
This remarkable property, now available for lease, spans two counties: 115 acres in Jackson County and 98 acres in Randolph County. It's a rare opportunity, as this lease hasn't been available in 12 years, with the previous group of hunters renewing year after year. When I walked the property, I observed numerous rubs, scrapes, and heavily used trails that resembled cow paths. The diverse topography creates natural funnels and pinch-point locations, making it ideal for stand locations. Harvest photos and trail camera pictures from this farm highlight the caliber of bucks that call this farm home. The property features a thick, overgrown power line providing excellent cover and I found several deer beds. A creek runs through the property, ensuring a reliable water source year-round. Although there are no row crops on the property itself, the ground was littered with acorns, and aerial imagery shows plenty of nearby agricultural fields. You could even put a food plot on or around the powerline to attract the neighboring deer.
Two significant events have shaped this property's unique habitat. A select timber cut 30 years ago and a tornado five to six years ago have created thick cover that now attracts and holds mature bucks. Additionally, the property is bordered on the east by over 1,000 acres of Shawnee National Forest, giving you even more hunting opportunities. For the firearm season, I'd recommend having some hunters draw a Jackson County tag and others a Randolph County tag, as bow tags are statewide. Initially, I considered splitting this property into two leases, but it became clear that such a superb lese like this should stay intact. The harvest history speaks volumes: this property has produced bucks scoring in the mid-160s and mid-70s. As mentioned above, the trail cam pictures back up its potential. This lease offers a rare chance to hunt a property with exceptional habitat and proven success.
