Here's a nice farm being offered for lease in Cass County, IL that borders a Nature Preserve. Farm is made up of timber, row crops and bedding and is located in an area of Cass County, which is known for harvesting mature whitetails. During my inspection I come across plenty of deer sign and saw several nice stand locations. I jumped up several deer on the south side of the farm and there were deer already feeding, during daylight hours, on the edge of the crop fields on the north side of the farm.
Do not overlook the strip of timber that runs east and west on the north side of the farm! The deer are currently using this strip of timber to travel. I would assume, they'll be using it much more when the pre-rut and rut kicks in! With the Nature Preserve being so close, one would think, those deer are traveling to this farm to feed. They'll definitely should be during the rut.
