This hunting lease is leased and not available. Approximately 15 minutes north of Merrill is the little town of Gleason, which is where you will find this really nice 40 acre property. This property has had minimal hunting on it and the landowner to the south of this property has not allowed anyone to hunt his property. When the hunting pressure starts, my guess is that these properties are where the deer have accustomed themselves to calling home.

The aerial still shows a pine plantation on the north side that was recently removed to make into crop land and thus should help provide another food source for the deer. The timbered ground is made up of a very dense poplar grove with remainder in maple and hardwoods. A series of logging trails also make for easy and quiet access into your stands. There is also a small pond and creek to the south just a hundred yards or so off of this property. I especially liked the southeastern corner which looks like a natural funnel / pinch point. Open field on western side is primarily hay and the landowner told me he sees deer feeding in it on a regular basis in the summer and fall months. Landowner also said there are plenty of turkey so make sure to get a spring and fall tag. I also jumped two grouse during my inspection.

Landowner does intend to start harvesting maple sap in the spring each year.

All legal game are yours to hunt. Respectful use of ATV is okay for hunting related activities. Camping is okay with landowner permission on where and when. He is also okay with food plots on the logging roads or open area between pine plantation and woods.
