This hunting lease is leased and not available.
This is a turkey hunter's paradise! This property generally has about 200 birds on it all winter, making the spring hunting great. Nebraska archery turkey season opens March 25. Shotgun season opens in mid-April. Each hunter may purchase 2 turkey permits. The landowner plants cover crops (clover, oats, peas, turnips, radish, sudan grass, etc.) for cattle to graze and also plants a field of corn. These fields surrounded by heavy windbreaks give the turkeys no reason to leave. The landowner is tired of people asking to turkey hunt and would like some birds harvested. Don't blow up the roost and I think you'll have great turkey hunting opportunities…
The cover crops also attract whitetail deer. The landowner said his crop damage from deer is significant and he has seen bucks cross the road in the center tree belt.
This is a working ranch and cattle do graze parts of the property on a rotational basis. Respectful ATV use is permitted. Lodging is nearby in O'Neill, NE.
The property is listed for 5 hunters, which I think would be too many deer hunters, however it could handle this many turkey hunters throughout the season. About 2 or 3 deer hunters would be enough.
9/20/16 Turkey population very high with groups of mature birds. Deer hid in unpicked corn field during last years hunting season.
