This hunting lease is leased and not available.
Near the town of Gays Mills is this 90 acre deer and turkey hunting lease in Crawford County. As you can see by the aerial, the property is almost entirely wooded but does have some neighboring agricultural ground attached to it on the north and southern sides. This property has had limited hunting pressure and QDM neighbors on at least 2 sides according to the landowner. Trail camera pictures from last 3 years surely help to support this being a QDM area of the County.
Primary access is on the western side, but the further back you go into the property the road and trail system is greatly expanded as you can see by the pictures in the listing. Deer sign was very good and I truly believe this will be another quality Crawford County hunting lease. There are some "seeps" that do provide a water source into the main drainage and thus there is water on the property except in the driest of summers. Landowner reported that this rare these ever dry up.
Also there is a small cabin that is available for rent for an additional nightly fee and is shown in the listing. This does have electricity via solar panels and batteries, a gas stove to cook on, wood burning stove for heat and sink to wash up in, but no running water. It is cozy but not very big so landowner is not expecting a lot for its use, but he himself did live in this for several years as he was building his home.
Landowner is passionate about preserving his property and quality of the timber and other wild vegetation. He has recently started a small apple orchard on the northwest corner of the property as shown in the listing. He is looking for hunters who will share his passion for preserving the quality of his property as well and helping to control the deer population. His expectation is that at least 2 does are taken each year off of the property.
This is a deer and turkey hunting lease only. Use of ATV for hunting related activities when weather and ground conditions permit okay. This is primarily intended to be for stand placement and game retrieval as landowner is concerned about erosion to his logging roads and trails. Camping is not allowed but you can rent the cabin for an additional nightly fee. Food plots are allowed with permission from landowner on location and type. His preference is for something with minimal tillage required. Landowner does want to be contacted prior to each visit to the property. No screw in steps allowed. No ginseng picking allowed. Landowner expect at least 2 does to be taken off of the property each year, thus would like to see proof of that.
