BIG URBAN BUCKS!!! You read about it all the time. Well here are 162 mostly wooded acres on the edge of Springfield Ohio. This property is made up of two completely different types of cover on each side of the road.
The west section is rolling hardwoods that was timbered years ago and has grown up thick and has plenty of stand trees. There is an old lane that could be cleaned out to give you access all the way up the bottom between two small ridges. There is a place here you could camp if need be and you did a little clean up. This side, as well as the other side, will need some work cutting a few trails in for access, and to let those bucks cruise by your stand easier. This section is all wooded and make you feel like you are in Southern Ohio somewhere.
The east side of the road is mostly low-land cover with about 15 acres of crop fields at the road. I will tell you that every inch of this section had deer tracks covering the ground. There is an old trail system here that will take some work to clean up for access. There were fresh scrapes on every trail I walked and the multiple small water holes all were littered with tracks. The cover was thick, but there were plenty of openings with good stand trees. There is a power line right-of-way along the RR tracks. Then, if you cross the RR tracks to the east there is a gnarly bottom that goes all the way to the Mad River, which is Ohio's premier trout stream. I have no doubt a couple giants live back in this thick stuff. Bonus... turkey are here as well!!
I will tell you this place will take some work creating access to parts that will truly make it the super urban spot I know it can be. The deer are thick here and I am positive that there are bucks that you dream about that call this property home. ATV use to get back to the back sections are probably a necessity. ATV use for hunting purposes only is allowed. Food, lodging and anything else you need is just minutes away. Check out the deer cam pics... you won't be able to say no!!!
