Here's a very nice, small acreage farm being offered for lease in Fayette County, IL. For only being twenty-acres, it lays out nice, and will hunt bigger than 20 acres. I was very impressed with the amount of deer sign I found. It also just happens to be in one of the better areas of Fayette County. The farm is made up of timber, water, CRP, and bedding, with row crops surrounding. You normally don't find that in a smaller farm, but this one has it.
As I pulled up to the farm, I had two does bust out of the CRP and run across the road in front of me (see pictures). As thick as the CRP is, there's no doubt the deer are using this area to bed throughout the year. There are numerous trails leading in and out of the CRP. Another plus to this farm is the underbrush. Portions of this farm have a ton of underbrush that the deer will feel comfortable traveling through. The makeup of this farm, could surprise you with big results, if hunted properly. The boundary lines are marked very well with purple paint and stakes that are also painted purple, again, see photos.
