This little 51 acre tract had a ton of deer sign on it, at the time of my inspection and is just north of Mt. Vernon, IL. Because I inspected several farms that day and this was the last one inspected, I was only able to get to the north and east sides of the farm. I simply run out of daylight. However, if the west side looks like the north and east, the deer sign should be there too. This farm has some very nice underbrush and is very thick. There were a couple of places I couldn't walk through, but, this little gem is providing some very good habitat. As you will notice in the pictures, the fields have not yet been planted. This is simply due to the fact, it's just too wet. We have had a ton of rain, which has caused the farmers to be about a month behind. However, the plan is to plant both fields. Regardless, I think this farm has a ton of potential, if hunted properly! I found numerous deer trails that are being heavily used. Plus, you have access from the west / southwest corner, and the north, giving you different options to enter the farm. I did jump three deer almost in the center of the farm, but have no idea what they were, just too thick to see anything other than white tails. There is a nice little stream that runs through the farm, which you will have no problems waking across, unless there are heavy rains, then this stream might come up. When I left the farm, I headed east and every field I drove past had deer in it, which tells me, the deer are here.
